How We Build a Football Pitch

  1. 1. Site survey & design. Levels, soil, drainage and access are assessed, and the pitch is designed to fit your space, budget and level of play.
  2. 2. Earthworks & shaping. Excavation and shaping to the correct falls so water runs off and the base stays stable for decades.
  3. 3. Drainage installation. Perforated drains and geotextile layers keep the pitch playable within minutes of a Highveld thunderstorm.
  4. 4. Crushed-stone sub-base. A compacted, laser-levelled stone base — the foundation that determines how long your pitch lasts.
  5. 5. Shock pad & turf. A shock-absorbing underlay, then 40mm, 50mm or 60mm football turf, seamed and secured.
  6. 6. Infill & line markings. Silica sand and rubber infill brushed in to spec, with permanent white lines cut and inlaid.

What does soccer pitch construction cost?

Every site is different. The biggest cost drivers are:

  • Pitch size — 5-a-side, 7-a-side or full 11-a-side
  • Ground conditions, earthworks and drainage required
  • Turf choice — 40mm, 50mm or 60mm, FIFA approved or non-FIFA
  • Shock pad, infill volumes, fencing and floodlights
